Willow Room: Terrific 2's and 3's class

"One Rainy day" by M Christina Butler was our story today.  We have sure had a lot of rainy days this week, so it was the perfect story.
We asked the children "What do you like to do on a rainy day?"

We used a shaving cream and glue mixture on a cloud shape and added blue yarn to look like rain.  We had dish scrubbers at the easel.

We did "Tap your toe and follow me", "ducks like rain", and "weather rhymes" for music.

We did an umbrella and raindrop color match game.  We looked at our caterpillars to see how much they grew.

Maple Room- Thursday class

We read "Split Splat" by Amy Gibson and "Franklin plays the game"

We played a math game today.  The children spun a spinner that had numbers and pictures of blocks on it.  The number they spun, was how many blocks they added to the tower.

We did a rainbow color memory game with a fun song.
We did The wiggle song, the hokey pokey, and There is a dog in school for music time.

Oak Room: Pre- k class

We read "A house for hermit crab" by Eric Carle, "Mr. Seahorse" by Eric Carle, and "There is a bird on your head" by Mo Willems.

We made 3 -D sea sculptures- we made salt clay and added sea shells and toothpicks.

We did a number recognition board game. We looked at sea shells with magnifying glasses. We did a lower and upper case letter matching puzzle.

We did wiggy, wiggy, wiggles - a fast and slow dance with scarves; and we did an opposites match game where each child got one part and they had to find their match that another student had.

We measured our starfish in the water to see how much it grew.

  1. Folk music
Folk songs are songs of often anonymous origin or are public domain that are transmitted orally. They are frequently a major aspect of national or cultural identity. Art songs often approach the status of folk songs when people forget who the author was. Folk songs are also frequently transmitted non-orally that is, as sheet music, especially in the modern era. Folk songs exist in almost every culture.
