Trinity Preschool Activities for Monday, February 4, 2013

Willow Room- MWF class

We read "Never mail and elephant" by Mike Thaler

We asked the children "Have you ever been to the post office?"

We glued the letters in our names onto an envelope.

We had a snowman activity at the easel with magnetic letters.

We did "skinnamarink", "Sticky bubble gum" and "Please pass the peas" for music time.

We thought of words that begin with the letter E.

We brought in real snow to play with in our class.  We wore mittens inside!

Our dramatic play area is a post office now.

Maple Room- Morning class

We read "Franklin's Neighborhood" by Paula Bourgeois We tried something new today, as the teacher read the story about neighborhoods, the children had markers and paper and they could draw something from their neighborhood.  We put them all together into a special book.

We cutout house shapes for our neighborhood bulletin board.

We used a letter stamper for our mailbags at the easel.

We did "February song", "Dog in School", "Hands are for clapping"  and "animal action" for music today.

We did letter P activities, we had out salt trays that the children used their fingers to write letters.

We are starting the estimating jar- we put "snowballs" in the jar and the children "guess" how many they think is in it. When we first do this activity, they children guess wild numbers, any number.  AS we do it more and more, they begin to understand the concept of   estimating and guess more realistic numbers.

Maple Room- afternoon class

We read "Snowy's special secret" by Guido Van Gretchen

We are making snowmen with the shaving cream and glue mixture.  We will add beads, sticks, and buttons as accessories.

We had watercolors at the easel.

We played with snow in our classroom. We had salt trays to practice writing letters with our fingers.

We did five little monkeys sitting in a tree, bean bag boogie, animal actions and the freeze dance for music time.

Oak Room- Pre- k class

We read "D.W. Library card" by Marc Brown and "Lola at the library"

We cut out heart shapes and we marble painted on them ( roll marbles dipped in paint in a box with the heart shape paper).  We will hang them on our bulletin board.

We did "Hello my name is Joe", "Put your finger on", "Where is thumbkin" and "snowball melting" for music time.

We are learning about the letter S this week.

Our dramatic corner is a library now.

Stay & Play:

We read "Don't worry Douglas" by David Melling

We drew with crayons on paper then we fingerpainted on top of our drawings.

We did "This is the way we do it" and "Little bunny foo foo" (a song with a book) for music time
