Trinity Preschool Activities for Monday, October 1, 2012

We all played on the playground today.

Willow Room- MWF class 

We told the story about "the little red house with no doors or windows and a star inside"  The "house is apple!"  We used flet pieces to tell the story.

We asked the children "Have you ever seen a house with no doors and no windows and a star inside?"

We used tempra paint and real apples to make prints to reveal the start inside the apple.

We had magnetic face pieces to make people at the easel.

We did "Walking shoes", and "Pass the bean bag" for music time today.

We talked about our new month (October)
We did Mr Appleworm a felt board rhyme

We have hay and play farm animals in our sensory table.  Our dramatic corner is now a FARM!  

Maple Room- morning class- 

we read "A new house for mouse" by Petr Horacek

We did marble painting with red and yellow paint.

We had pink, purple, orange, and yellow paint with texture brushes at the easel.

we did "The October song", "Way up high in the apple tree", "Months of the year", 5 little apples" and "Jump Jim Joe"  

We did letter A activities- we will do a letter each week and we will do various activities to help the children learn the sounds, how to write it, and words that start with the letter of the week.

We talked about what we learned about apples, we also started our yearly weather graph.  We use it to make comparisons month to month.

Maple Room- Afternoon class:

We read " The pumpkin Patch" by Margaret McNamara

We painted a pumpkin shape orange.
We had rollers and paint at the easels.

We did "Five little elephants", "Come and buy a pumpkin", "Baby bear baby bear what do you see?
We are talking about the color orange and learning the nursery rhyme "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater"

Oak Room- Pre- k class

We did The apple story about a house with no doors, no windows and a star inside.

We made applesauce.  The children helped cut up apples into small pieces for our applesauce.

We did A-P-P-L-E song, "Way up high in the apple tree", and 5 little apples for music time.

We did apple tasting to see which kind of apple we liked best.

We did a science experiment- we cut up an apple and left one piece out in the air, one piece in milk, and one in lemon juice.  We will see what happens.


Stay & Play:

We read "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss

We did mosaic art, we traced a design on paper, then squeezed a line of glue around our lines and put colored squares of paper on the lines.

We did "Shake it loud" and used maracas, and the rock and roll freeze dance
