Trinity Preschool Activities for Thursday, September 13, 2012

We got to play outside today!  It never did rain, but it was cool.  Please remember sweatshirts, jackets or sweaters so we can all play comfortably outside.

Willow Room- T/TH class:

We had a great day, only a few tears for a few minutes and then everyone got involved in activities and enjoyed the morning.

We read "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb" by Al Perkins.

We asked a question today- "Who brought you to school today?"  We ask these to help the children learn to answer questions, communicate and we talk about beginning number concepts by using the answers.

We did fingerpainting at the tables and we used thick chalk on chalkboard surface at the easel.

We did "Clap, clap, clap your hands", "tap your toe and follow me" and little fish for music.

We learned a rhyme called "criss cross applesauce" to help us learn to sit with our legs criss crossed while we are on the rug.

Thursday class:

Today was the first day of our special Thursday group- it is a combination class of children from both of the MWF classrooms.  We plan to do special math and language activities each week.  Today, we got used to being together, we played some letter sounds games too.Any child who is in the MWF class can add Thursday and join our math and language activities.

Oak Room:

We read "If you give a pig a pancake" by Laura Numeroff today and we made pancakes to have at snack time!

We traced a barn shape onto paper, to create a farm picture  then we used animal stampers shapes to add some animals and we used green paint to add some grass.

We had animal sorting into colored bowls, we had out some button sorting cards- they have a variety of ways to sort the buttons size, shape, number of holes, etc..  We also had a magnetic ABC puzzle out.

We did "Who stole the cookie from the frying pan?" the children had to find the paper pancake that had their name on it) and we did a CD book sing a long to Old MCDonald had a farm"

We did a graph today; does your name have the letter "A, a" in it? This helps with both letter recognition and number work with a graph.
