Trinity Preschool Activities for Friday, September 29, 2012

We played outside on the playground today.

Willow Room- MWF class

We read "Eyes, Nose, Fingers, and Toes" by Judy Hindley

We held up some fingers and asked the children "How many fingers am I holding up?"

We did a multistep art  process today.
First step- color with crayons bunched together
Second step- paint over coloring with watercolors
Watercolors will not adhere to the crayons so it only colors the plain paper.
Easels- painting with paint and brushes.

For music we did "Can't sit still", "What could you do with a bean bag?" and "Please pass the peas"

We played a lot in the block area today, with cars and trains.

Maple Room- Morning class:

We read "The mouse and the apple" by Stephen Butler

We did a cutting and tearing project, we cut or tore strips of red paper and glued them onto a paper plate to make an apple.  We added a leaf and a stem.  We had pot scrubbers at the easels with paint.

We did "The September song","Way up high in the apple tree", "Five little apples" and "Herman the worm"

We did an "all about the seasons" activity today.

Maple Room- afternoon class

We read "Little Apple Goat" by Caroline Church

We made home made applesauce- we cut and peeled apples, then cooked them up for an addition to our snack.

We had pot scrubber stampers at the easel with paint.

We also water colored on paper for art today.

We did a book on tape, "Clifford at the Circus"

"Way up high in the apple tree", "Pirate song" , "Brown Bear, "If you are happy and you know it" and "dog in school" was our music today.

We tasted red, green and yellow apples to see which we liked best.

Oak Room:

We read "The Noisy way to bed" by Ian Whybrow
We talked about our sense of hearing today.

We made shakers out of paper plates we colored and they had fun streamers on them.

We did a number recognition board game, the letter C puzzle, and some playstyx building sticks.

We counted with our ears- each time we heard the sound of a coin drop in a can we counted the noise it made.

We danced with our shakers we made, and we played a sounds game.  We listened to sounds on a CD and played a BINGO kind of game to match the sound to what would have made the sound.

We tried out different musical instruments to listen to the sounds made.

We shook sound eggs and tried to match the same sounds.

Stay & Play:

We read "Sammy the seal" by Syd Hoff

We did splatter painting- we had to try it a few ways to get it to work like it should.

We did list of dances, you're face will surely show it, and tickle toe for music time.

We played Around the house sounds Bingo.
