Trinity Preschool Activities for Thursday, January 5, 2012

We played outside today! How often do we get to play outside in January? Not very often, so we will enjoy it while we can.

Willow Room: Terrific 2's and 3's class

Our story today was "The Mitten" by Jan Brett we used magnetic props to help tell the story.

We asked the children "What is your favorite color?
We are beginning our color train display in the hall. Look at home for small items of each color we can attach to the train.

We used winter themed stampers (snowflakes, etc) for art to hang something fun on our windows.

We did Ring the bells, and Turn around for music today.

Maple Room:

We read "A little bit of winter" by Paul Stewart

We did pom pom painting ( to look like painting with snowballs)

We did a science experiment with ice today- "Can we keep winter in our classroom?" We put an ice cube in a bowl, we wrapped one up in leaves, and we put one in a container to see if they will stay frozen? What do you think will happen?

For music we did the January song, The winter song, Tempo marches on, List of dances, Today is Monday, and Herman the worm"

Oak Room:

We read "Tracks in the snow" by Wong Herbert Yee and "Curious George- A Winter's Nap"

We cut a cave shape from brown paper and glued it on blue paper. Then we used animal track shape stampers to make foot prints and we drew something in the cave. We added cotton balls for snow.

We also cut out foot print shapes and taped them to our floor leading up to our cave.

We made a snowman out of ice and the children used shaving cream to paint it to look like snow. I will post pictures and a description in another BLOG posting.

We did Silly dance contest, and used maracas while we danced. We did some bear and hibernation rhymes.

We asked the children if their name has an N in it?

We have a new attendance board using last names to help the children learn to spell their last names. They are bears who then hibernate on our attendance board in little beds.
