Trinity Preschool Activities for Friday, September 16, 2011 2011

We played on the playground today.

Willow Room: MWF class

The children are all adjusting well and very busy in the room. When I came in to visit the class today, some were painting, some were coloring at the free art table, one was using tweezers to pick up the styrofoam peanuts in the sensory table, several were playing in the dramatic corner kitchen, while others were exploring the science magnifying glasses and a few were building with blocks with one of the teachers.....wow.

For our story today we read "If you take a mouse to school" by Laura Numeroff. We did a group art project on a large piece of paper that we spread across the table. We used kitchen utensils like potato mashers dipped in tempra paint to create a beautiful and colorful design. We had dry erase markers at the easel.

We sang "Hands are for clapping" , "Finger Poppin" and "there's a Dog in school"

We saw some geese flying above us on the playground.

Maple Room:

We read "This is my body" by Gina and Mercer Mayer

We did self portraits by looking into a mirror and drawing pictures of ourselves.

We had stampers with paint at the easels.

We sang "The September song", "Everybody has a face", "the freeze dance" while dancing with scarves, "Today is Monday", and "The dancing scarf blues."

The children love the large wooden blocks and the accessories that can be used with them, the vehicles, the airplanes, the people and the buildings to make a whole city. They had quite an elaborate building structure today.

Please remember to send back your "All about me" papers on Monday.

Oak Room: Pre- K room

We read "If you give a pig a party" by Laura Numeroff

We are learning the Pledge of Allegiance.

We had a fun art project today where the children mixed their own paint- see our facebook page for pictures. The children took a small container and put paint in it, then they added a teaspoon or two of cornstarch and a squirt of liquid dish soap.

We had water colors at the easel that the children used on party hat shapes.

We had the letter "A" puzzle and a shape sorting wooden puzzle.

We sang the ABC song using flash cards.

We did an activity today using "story starters" If you give a ______a ______, he will want a ________ to go with it.

We made a list of words that start with the letter "A".
