Activities for Monday, Nov. 8, 2010

Wow, what an autumn we are having, after the chilly weather last week, we are back to beautiful weather. We played outside today!

Willow Room: MWF class

We had a guest reader today, the librarian from the Mt. Prospect public library came to read some nursery rhymes and classic stories to our children. It was great.

We glued leaves to paper to make a beautiful fall masterpiece. We had paint at the easel with real handmade "pine needle brushes".

We sang "There's a dog in school" (it is an alphabet song where the children pretend they are various animals and sing the alphabet song in that animal's language, ex. woof, woof)
We also sang When I was a little fish and the turkey hop.

Maple Room:

We also had the librarian read to us today, she read Nursery rhymes and classic stories.

We painted with spools to make designs on a band that we will turn into headbands for our Thanksgiving feast.

We began learning about the letter "F".

We sang some nursery rhymes today and we sang the November song.

Oak Room:

We are starting "The three little pigs" and we work on it all week. We tell the story several ways all week, the children act it out and we retell it.

today for art, we cut out three house shapes. The children glued straw on one, paper bricks on a second and sticks on the third to represent the three little pigs houses. We used pig stampers to add pigs to our pictures.

We sang 5 pigs in a house, 5 pigs go to town.

We are talking about the letter I.

We changed our dramatic play corner into a construction zone.
