Activities for Friday, March 12

Willow Room- MWF class

We read "The mixed up alphabet" by Steve Metzger and our question today was What is your favorite letter? We also reviewed the nursery rhymes

For art today we finished putting our "Humpty Dumpty's" back together again and we had watercolors at the easel today.

We had an airplane counting game out with colors and counting. We also had a nursery rhyme felt board game out. We brought in some of the new materials that just came in, some counting keys, some rhyming activities and some nuts and bolts.

We sang "Over the deep blue sea" and "Dog in school", we did some nursery rhymes.

We went for a walk outside around the school today, It was so nice out, but we could not play in the playground yet as it is too wet. We saw some of the green plants beginning to grow, we picked up some small pine cones and we saw the children in the classrooms downstairs through the windows. We enjoyed getting outside.

Maple Room

We read "Gregory, The Terrible Eater" by Mitchell Sharmat

For art today we did painting in a box using clementine oranges dipped in paint. We painted at the easel with little "broom like" paint brushes.

We sang "Put your little foot", "Little Driver", "Itsy, Bitsy Spider" and "The windy day"

We practiced writing our letters on our wipe off boards.

We changed our dramatic play center over into a grocery store- the children helped create the area and had such a good time deciding how to do it and bringing everything in to set it up. They did a great job.

We went for a walk around the school today. Loved getting outdoors.

Oak Room:

We read "Little Cloud" by Eric Carle

We looked at some cards that showed emotions and talked about why he/she feels those emotions.

We dripped white paint on paper and folded it in half to make a picture that looked like a cloud. We asked the children what their cloud looks like?

We had out some word building puzzles to make words. We had magnetic writing boards too.

We did the "Mack Chicken Dance" and an emotions song.

We took a walk outside and looked for signs of spring.
